Over the course of a very long time, eye-patch clad Kovarian worked with the
religious order known as the Silence to destroy the Doctor. The Eye Drive worn by Kovarian, which helped the wearer to both see and remember the Silence, was to prove her downfall when Amy used it to electrify her.
